Milkywire completed pre-purchases of 12,500+ tonnes from 19 suppliers including multiple remove alumni: InPlanet, Kairos Carbon, Norma, ZeroEx, Takachar, Ucaneo, Flux, Carbonsate, PyroCCS - Biochar Carbon Removal Solutions for the Global South, Releaf Earth (YC W19), NeoCarbon, Octavia Carbon, and Planboo/Carboneers.

The investment will enable the team to scale operations and accelerate key initiatives in Carbonaide's mission to transform the concrete industry.

This will enable BIOSORRA to expand production capacity for biochar durable carbon removal (BCR), support impact farmers with measurable yield gains, advance R&D and MRV and grow partnerships.

This funding will be used to assist Varaha’s geographic growth, strengthen its scientific and MRV (measurement, reporting, and verification) capabilities, and scale a brand new industrial partnership.

Shopify offered $100K in pre-purchases to twenty CDR startups that will be supported through the AirMiners Kiloton Fund. Seven out of the twenty companies are part of the remove community!

This funding will help them roll out two first-of-a-kind direct air capture plants set to launch in 2025, and paves the way for their larger commercial plant which aims to capture over 20,000 tons of CO2 per year (expected to go live in 2026).

5 of the 13 companies Milkywire choses to support in 2024 are part of the remove community: Yama, Ucaneo, Carbon Atlantis, Planboo, and PyroCCS - Biochar CDR Solutions. These five teams joined other remove community startups/scale-ups supported by the fund like Octavia Carbon, Parallel Carbon, SeaO2, Silicate and InPlanet.

Planboo is charting the course in carbon removal in the Tropics with pioneering biochar hashtag#MRV technology. This investment will assist the hashtag#biochar producers to unlock even more carbon removal credits from remote tropical regions.

Neustark will deliver 27,600 tons of carbon removal credits to Microsoft over the course of 6 years. This agreement highlights Microsoft’s front-running role in scaling carbon removal solutions in a manner that focuses on high quality credits.

With the new funding, CEEZER aims to establish their presence in the US, grow their team, and introduce additional carbon portfolio financing solutions to their platform for corporate carbon buyers and project developers.

Deep Sky - one of the world’s most ambitious carbon project developers - has partnered with three of our alumni Direct Air Capture (DAC) startups to validate their technologies for commercial deployment as part of Deep Sky's mission to develop Canada into a world-leading hub for carbon removal.
